Many great things happened today. Here are two:

1. Kids organizing/counting sticks into piles of 10 (makes it easier to count quickly since we are practicing counting by 10s).

2. Reading to someone.

Tomorrow is going to be a Wonderful Wednesday!!!

PS--I am super loving the reading progress that the Kinders are making!!!

What a joyful day for me! It was so good to see my lovely students after being gone for many days of spring break.

We got right back to business as usual (reading, writing and math).

The high frequency words this week are: help, too.

We are reviewing all short vowel sounds, but do that with comparing to the long vowel sound and then thinking about how to spell both.

The kids played a quick partner game in math: how many dots, how many more make 5, and what is the number sentence? Pretty much pros after 2 minutes. Then one student asked: Can we do this with tens frames? Yes, my student!!!

There seemed to be a large amount of "tattling" today, so we listened to "Don't Squeal Unless it is a Big Deal." Hoping that will help us be good friends for the rest of the year (and years to come).

I taught the kids about Read to Someone today. Boy was that fun!

And we ended the day talking about our awesome science field trip that will happen in April. The note came home today, please fill it out and send it back as soon as possible!

Welcome to another great day of reading to self!!! Today, the kids made it for 5 minutes and might have gone longer, but we will gradually increase, until they can read for 15 minutes!

The SmartBoard center today was reading a story from our reading series. Loved seeing the "teacher" teach the others.

No picture of this, but a fun game we have been playing is "ready, set, add!" Today I challenged students to be faster than me.

Now they are ready for the next challenge... Stay tuned!!!

What a lovely day to be a kindergarten teacher!!!

The students were so engaged with the new book bags they got today. They spent 3 minutes practicing stamina and independent reading procedures (read the whole time, stay in your spot, be quiet).

After that they got to have reading centers. A new one was write words, cut and glue matching words to pictures, and the car center in the kitchen area.

What goodness will Tuesday bring???
